Eco Loop Spill Proof Funnel
It’s not uncommon for auto manufacturers to make regular maintenance items a complete pain in the ass. For instance, on the 991 generation Porsche 911 you need to remove the rear bumper to change the intake filters, or Dodge putting a sway bar 2 inches under the oil drain plug on their trucks. This post will help address problem of auto manufactures putting fill ports in awkward locations using the Eco Loop. I want to be upfront with you guys and you let know right off the bat this tool was sent in for review. That being said, I approached this tool company as thought this was a genuinely promising product.
After you’re done using the eco loop, it threads back into self so you can store this without making a mess. The space saving feature, coupled with the leak proof design makes this a really awesome tool. You can see the vent valve is in the closed position, so it truely proves a 100% leak proof experience.
The pouring end of this tool has a few different adapters. It can be used for coolant, transmission fluid, gear oil, and motor oil. The modular design makes this pretty versatile, so it can be used on pretty much anything where you can hold the bottle above the fill port.
Just want to show one example of where this funnel truly shines. This oil filler neck is flexible, has a sharp bend, and no screw on funnel is available for this vehicle. Due to the sharp bend, a conventional funnel remains top heavy, and just flops over.
Not having to dig through a mess of funnels is a pretty awesome experience. Just screw on the on the eco loop, pop open the vent port, and pour away.
The side that screws onto the bottle has several threaded features. The green ring is actually an adapter, and can be removed to expose additional threaded features. Here, you can see the vent popped open.
The Eco Loop handled it no problem. Just keep in mind that even if you flip the bottle right side up, there is still oil in the line, so you need to keep the fill portion pointed upwards, or you may spill some of the residual oil in the line.
This funnel isn’t going to be the end all funnel solution, but I think the fact that it can eliminate the need for having to store an entire arsenal of funnels for every application and help you get into some awkward areas makes it a tool worth having. I don’t think this will appeal to those who work at a dealership where you have pneumatic powered dispensers, but if you’re a home gamer who wants an upgrade from their harbor freight funnel kit, this is the tool for you.
